Tuesday, March 31st, 7-9PM at Friendship Hall, Joshua Tree Retreat Center (Mentalphysics, Hwy. 62)
According to Joseph Campbell, mythology is a record of our collective attempts to describe and explain the mystery of life. Differences in time and place, in language and custom, give rise to diverse images, stories, and belief systems that lead us one way or another, to a deeper understanding of the shared human condition. Mythmaking continues, even in scientific techno-modern Western cultures, as part of the ongoing quest for meaning, knowledge, and beauty.
If you have an interest in other cultures and belief systems…in old stories, fairytales, or storytelling…in the arts or your own creative expression…in the dream of the desert… in learning to view your work, your life, or American culture with more conscious imagination…
This is the place for you.
Come with an open mind. Cookies and other goodies appreciated (we’ll celebrate Campbell’s birthday, just a few days late). Donation for the room suggested.
A collaboration between the Joseph Campbell Foundation, OPUS Archives, and Pacifica Graduate Institute. Join the conversation, create the vision, deepen the study of myth.
