I agree. You might recall from the Titanomachia myth that it's the overtaxed earth that invites a new order of existence, first by enlisting the help of her Titan son Cronus in ending the "rule" of Heaven, and then by helping her daughter Rhea save Zeus, whom she then raises and supports in his war against her Titan sons.
Speaking of Titans, I've seen some out here in the desert...
