    This book is both a beautiful and provocative collection of essays about myth, soul and the depths of the imagination. Each author is a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute, a unique institution dedicated to animae mundi colendae gratia (for the sake of tending soul in and of the world). Two of my essays are included: "Euripides' Women: The Role of the Feminine Other," and "The Myth of Actaion: Archetypal Image of Buddhist Enlightenment."

The 3 Repressed/Hideous Brothers (who are not to spoken of)

Further comments and thoughts about valuable resources submerged, rejected, and repressed in our culture that may be the key to our future:

"For me, the hidden-away-unspoken-of-monster is the animal kingdom and, more generally, the natural world. We don't speak about how we are a part of this world, only how we are, due to our 'elevated' level of consciousness, above and in control of it all and how it's our God-given right as humans to manipulate 'nature' to our ends and in the service of human needs. I think we're in for a big surprise."

I agree. You might recall from the Titanomachia myth that it's the overtaxed earth that invites a new order of existence, first by enlisting the help of her Titan son Cronus in ending the "rule" of Heaven, and then by helping her daughter Rhea save Zeus, whom she then raises and supports in his war against her Titan sons.

Speaking of Titans, I've seen some out here in the desert...
