“Lunar MYTHOLOGIES: the full
moon”
For centuries, people
have associated the full moon with inspiration, intuition, and lunacy. The ancient Greeks associated the god Apollo with the sun, reason, and order. The god Dionysus, the "great loosener," who presided over wine, dancing, and ecstasy, loved the moon. Reason versus emotion, mind versus body; these are familiar oppositions that have, according to the Greek poet Euripides, serious consequences. This month we'll tell the story of The Bacchae, based on his famous tragedy from the 5th century BCE.
We’re all touched by the mysteries of moonlight and linked to images, past and present, of this celestial body. Come join us! Free. Donation for the room appreciated. Cookies and other goodies gladly shared.
